Enkambweni yokuzalwa kabusha kwethu okungokomoya, ukholo lwethu ngokuvamile lubhekana nezikhathi zokulingwa ukuze lwenziwe lujule futhi luqine. Lezi zikhathi zokulingwa ezingenakugwema zibizwa ngokuthi “izilingo.” Isithombe esivamile ngesilingo siwukuthi into ethile eyenqatshelwe ilenga ngokumangalisayo phambi kwethu. “Siyalingeka” ukuba sizitike kunoma yini, kodwa siyazibamba.

Futhi emazwini okugcina alesi sahluko kusukela kuDuteronomi, uMose uphinda isimemezelo esinamandla sokugcina imiyalo:

“Futhi uma siqaphela ukugcina nokwenza yonke le miyalo phambi kukaJehova uNkulunkulu wethu, lokho kuyoba ukulunga kwethu.”Dutheronomi 6:25).

Ukunqoba kukaJesu udeveli ehlane kuwukugcwaliseka kwamazwi kaMose ayisiprofetho. UJesu utshela udeveli futhi uzikhumbuza ukuthi “Ungayilingi iNkosi uNkulunkulu wakho.” UJesu uyazi ukuthi ukwethembeka kukaNkulunkulu kithi kubonakala ngokusinika imiyalo namandla okuyigcina. Uyazi futhi ukuthi ukwethembeka kwethu kuNkulunkulu kubonakala ekuzimiseleni kwethu ukwamukela nokuphila ngokuvumelana nemithetho, sibiza uNkulunkulu ukuba asinike amandla okwenza lokho. Ayikho enye indlela yokubonisa ukholo.

Ngakho-ke, uJesu akadingi ukuba azilahle phansi esuka esicongweni sethempeli, noma aziphathe budlabha ukuze abonise ukuthi uNkulunkulu uthembekile Kuye noma ukuthi uyiNdodana kaNkulunkulu. Ngezikhathi ezithile, singase silingeke ukuba senze izinto ezingase zichazwe ngokuthi “udeveli ungenze ngenze lokho.” Ngokwesibonelo, singase silingeke ukuba sithukuthele lapho izingane zethu zinenkani. Singase silingeke ukuba sisho amazwi abuhlungu kumngane noma isihlobo lapho sicasukile. Singase silingeke ukuba sicasukelwe abafundi abaziphatha kabi. EBhayibhelini lesiHeberu, uNkulunkulu uchazwa ‘njengolingwa’ ukuze athukuthele noma nini lapho abantwana bakwa-Israyeli bengabongi futhi bengalaleli. Nakuba uNkulunkulu engaphezu kwezilingo ngokungenamkhawulo, thina akunjalo. Lapho siqaphela intukuthelo, ukuntula isineke, noma ukucasuka okuphakathi kwethu, singakubheka njengophawu lokuthi kukhona okudinga ukunakwa, kodwa akudingekile ukuba sibuswe yikho.

Kunalokho, singakubona kuwumcabango oyiphutha noma umzwelo omubi ozama ukusenza senze lokho okufunayo—sizama ukusenza “siziwise phansi.” Uma nje sibiza iNkosi ngeZwi Layo, njengoba kwenza uJesu, akukho lutho udeveli angalusho olungasehlisa—noma udeveli ephendukezela umbhalo.
