1 ועתה ישראל שמע אל־החקים ואל־המשפטים אשר אנכי מלמד אתכם לעשות למען תחיו ובאתם וירשתם את־הארץ אשר יהוה אלהי אבתיכם נתן לכם׃

Verse 1. The principal duty, therefore, of those regenerating is to obey and implicitly carry out all the commands which they receive through the Divine Word, both as to general principles and as to the perception given about each particular case, that they may acquire spiritual life, and enter into and enjoy those more interior states to which the Divine Goodness and Wisdom of the Lord (which have led the regenerate by Divine Providence in all ages) are seeking to guide them.
