Leviticus 27

Study

Now Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said,

Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, When a man makes a vow involving persons, you shall value the persons before Yehowah.

And this shall be your valuation for males from twenty years old to sixty years old: your valuation shall be fifty silver shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary.

And for females, your valuation shall be thirty shekels.

But between five and twenty years old, your valuation for males shall be twenty shekels, and for females ten shekels.

And between one month and five years old, your valuation for males shall be five silver shekels, and for females your valuation shall be three silver shekels.

And for sixty years old and over, for males your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for females ten shekels.

But if the one who vows is poorer than your valuation, he shall bring the person before the priest, and the priest shall value him; the priest shall value him according to the ability of the one who vows.

But if it is an animal which men may bring as a gift to Yehowah, the whole of any such gift to Yehowah is holy.

He shall not offer a substitute for it, nor exchange for it a good for a bad or a bad for a good; and if he does indeed exchange animal for animal, then both of them shall be holy.

And if it is an unclean animal (which they may not offer as a gift to Yehowah), then he shall bring the animal before the priest,

and the priest shall value it, whether it is good or bad; it shall be as the priest values it for you.*

But if he does indeed redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part of it to your estimation.

And if a man dedicates his house as holy to Yehowah, the priest shall value it, whether it is good or bad; it shall stand as the priest values it.

But if he who dedicates it wishes to redeem his house, then he shall add a fifth part of the silver of your valuation to it, and it shall be his.

And if a man dedicates to Yehowah a part of the field of his possession, then your valuation shall be according to its sowing: the sowing of a homer of barley at fifty silver shekels.

If he dedicates his field from the year of jubilee, it shall stand according to your full valuation.

But if he dedicates his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon to him the silver according to the years that remain until the year of jubilee, and there shall be a reduction in your valuation.

But if he who dedicates it wishes to redeem the field, then he shall add a fifth part of the silver of your valuation to it, and it shall be assured to him.

But if he will not redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed again;

but when the field reverts in the jubilee, it shall be holy to Yehowah, as a field set apart; possession of it shall be the priest's.

And if he dedicates to Yehowah a field which he has bought, which is not part of the fields of his possession,

then the priest shall reckon to him the amount of your valuation until the year of jubilee; and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy thing to Yehowah.

In the year of jubilee the field shall return to him from whom it was bought, who has possession of the land.

And all your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary; twenty gerahs shall make a shekel.

However, no man may dedicate the firstborn of cattle, for the firstborn are for Yehowah; whether it is cattle or sheep, it is Yehowah's.

And if it is an unclean animal, he shall ransom it according to your valuation, and shall add to it a fifth part of it; or if it is not redeemed, it shall be sold according to your valuation.

Even so, no devoted thing which a man sets aside for Yehowah from all that he has, whether man or animal or the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to Yehowah.

No one devoted, who has been set apart from men, shall be ransomed; he must be put to death.

And all the tithe of land, either of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is Yehowah's; it is holy to Yehowah.

But if a man would indeed redeem anything of his tithe, he shall add to it a fifth part of it.

And all the tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth one which passes under the rod shall be holy to Yehowah.

He shall not consider whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; and if he does exchange it, then both it and that for which it is exchanged shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

These are the commandments which Yehowah gave Moses for the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai.
