Leviticus 26

You shall not make any idols for yourselves, nor erect a carved image or a pillar for yourselves, nor set up an image of stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am Yehowah your God.

You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary; I am Yehowah.

If you walk in my statutes, and take care to obey my commandments,

I will give you your rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the fields will yield their fruit.

And your threshing will last till the vintage, and the vintage will last till the sowing time; and you will eat your food to the full, and live securely in your land.

And I will give peace in the land, and you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid; and I will remove fierce wild animals from your land, and the sword will not pass through your land.

And you shall pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.

For five of you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you shall pursue ten thousand; and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.

And I will turn to you, and make you fruitful and multiply you; and I will establish my covenant with you.

And you shall eat up what is in store, and clear out the old because of the new.

And I will set my tabernacle in your midst, and I will not abhor you.

And I will walk in your midst and be your God, and you shall be my people.

I am Yehowah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the cross-pieces of your yoke, and enabled you to go upright.

But if you do not listen to me, nor observe all these commandments,

and if you reject my statutes and abhor my regulations, so that you do not observe all my commandments, but violate my covenant,

I will even do this to you: I will inflict upon you terror, consumption, and fever, which will consume the eyes and cause life to waste away; and you will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will eat it.

And I will set my face against you, and you will be defeated before your enemies; those who hate you will dominate you, and you will flee when no one pursues you.

But if you still do not listen to me because of these things, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

For I will break your obstinate power, and make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.

Then your strength will be spent in vain; for your land will not yield its produce, nor will the trees of the land yield their fruit.

So if you walk contrary to me, and do not listen to me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

For I will send the wild animals of the fields among you, and they will rob you of your children, cut off your cattle, and make you few in number; and your roads will become desolate.

And if by these things you are not corrected by me, but walk contrary to me,

then I too will walk contrary to you, and will even strike you seven times for your sins.

And I will bring war* upon you, which will execute the vengeance of the covenant, when you are gathered together in your cities; then I will send a pestilence among you, and you will be delivered into the enemy's hands.

When I bring famine upon you,* ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and dole out your bread by weight; and you will eat, but not be satisfied.

Yet if in spite of this you do not listen to me, but walk contrary to me,

then I will walk contrary to you with fury; and I will chastise you myself seven times for your sins.

Then you will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.

And I will destroy your hill-shrines, and cut down your sun-images, and cast your corpses upon the corpses of your idols; and I will abhor you.

And I will lay waste your cities, and desolate your sanctuaries; and I will not smell your odour of rest.

Then I will desolate the land, and your enemies who live in it will be astonished at it.

And I will scatter you among the nations, and draw out a sword after you; and your land will be a desolation, and your cities will be a waste.

Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths all the time that it lies desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.

All the time that it lies desolate it will have rest, which it never had in your sabbaths when you lived upon it.

And I will send a faintness into the hearts of those who are left in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a driven leaf will drive them away, and they will flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they will fall though no one is pursuing.

And they will stumble over each other as though before a sword, though no one is pursuing; and you will have no power to stand before your enemies.

And you will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will eat you up.

And those of you who are left will waste away in their iniquity in the land of your enemies; and they will also waste away in their fathers' iniquities with them.

But if they confess their iniquity and their fathers' iniquity, with their trespass which they committed against me, and confess also that they have walked contrary to me,

so that I also have walked contrary to them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they atone for their iniquity;

then I will remember my covenant with Jacob; and I will also remember both my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

The land also will have relief from them and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; for they shall atone for their iniquity. For they rejected my regulations and abhorred my statutes.

And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies I will neither reject them nor abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and violate my covenant with them; for I am Yehowah their God.

But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations so that I might be their God; I am Yehowah.

These are the statutes, the regulations, and the laws which Yehowah made between himself and the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai through Moses.
