The Gospel of Mark picks up precisely at the point where Matthew has finished, with the "Great Commission", when Jesus charges His disciples to preach the good news of His birth, life, death, resurrection, and, especially, His teachings. And right away, he starts with "the voice of one crying in the wilderness," proclaiming that the Messiah, the Son of God, has come.
