23 And he went up from thence to Bethel, and as he went up by the way, there came forth little boys out of the city, and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald head; Go up, bald head!

Verse 23. And thus, too, progress is made to a higher state which is the good of truth, or a state of faith, in the course of which ascent, occurs another temptation—namely, from those who contemn the Word, despising it as though it had no literal sense, or no sense adequate to the understanding as to good and truth.
