35 And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to another by the word of Jehovah, Smite me, I pray thee. But the man refused to Smite him.

Verse 35. But it is the dictate of Divine Truth from the Word of the Lord to the man of the church, that evil is destructive of good, and that, therefore, it should be resisted internally as well as externally, thus that temptation should be endured; but the corrupted church cannot endure spiritual temptations.
