53 And he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked Jehovah the God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.

Verse 53. And self-love prevails with him externally and internally, and he is utterly opposed to the conjunction of Divine Good and Divine Truth, confirming in himself all his hereditary tendencies to evil.
