Jesus represents the Lord in His perfect goodness; Peter represents true ideas that spring from the desire for good. The water, as before, represents the vast conglomeration of facts and ideas about natural things. Here, then, we see the intellect heeding the call of love and goodness , ready to leave the safety of its secure doctrinal system (the ship) and apply itself directly to the tumult of natural ideas.
