867. And their books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. This symbolically means that the interiors of their minds were opened, of both the good and the evil, and by an influx of light and warmth from heaven their characters were seen and perceived in respect to the affections of their love or will, and so in respect to the thoughts of their faith or intellect.

The books do not mean books, but the interiors of the minds of those being judged. The books symbolize the interiors of the minds of those who were evil and who received a verdict of death, and the Book of Life symbolizes those who were good and who received a verdict of life.

The interiors are called books because the interiors of everyone's mind have inscribed on them everything the person thought, intended, said and did in the world that proceeded from his will or love and so from his intellect or faith. All of this is inscribed on everyone's life so precisely that nothing at all is lost.

The character of these interiors is clearly apparent when spiritual light, which is wisdom from the Lord, and spiritual warmth, which is love from the Lord, flow in through heaven. Spiritual light reveals the thoughts that are matters of the intellect and faith; spiritual warmth reveals the affections that are matters of the will and love; and spiritual light and warmth together reveal the intentions and endeavors.

I do not say that a rational person can see the reality of this by the light of his own intellect, but he can see it if he wishes to, provided he is willing to understand that there exists a spiritual light that enlightens the intellect, and a spiritual warmth that kindles the will.

6073. Ngamazwi “Uyini umsebenzi wenu na?” kufanekiswa ukubuza mayelana nemisebenzi kanye nosizo lwabo. Lokhu kuchachiswa wukufanekiswa kokulunga ngomsebenzi (bheka inombolo 6048), nakanjalo kufanekiswa umsebenzi nosizo, ngokuba lokhu kungukulunga. Konke ukulunga okubizwa ngokulunga kwesisa senhliziyo kakulutho olunye ngaphandle kwemisebenzi, nemisebenzi kayilutho olunye ngaphandle kokusiza umakhelwane, izwe, iSonto, nombuso weNkosi. Okunye, isisa senhliziyo kasibi wuqobo lwesisa senhliziyo ngaphambi kokufezwa ngokwenziwa kube wumsebenzi owusizo. Ngokuba ukuthanda umuntu kodwa ukungenzi ukulunga kuye, yize unamandla okwenza ukulunga kuye, kakukhona ukumthanda; kepha ukwenza ukulunga kuye lapho unamandla okukwenza, nokukwenza ngokusukela enhliziyweni, kungukumthanda; nalapho-ke konke okwesisa senhliziyo kukulesosenzo noma kulowomsebenzi. Ngokuba umsebenzi womuntu uyinkimbinkimbi yazozonke izinto zesisa senhliziyo nenkolo kwakhe, nokuyiwona obizwa ngokulunga kukamoya, futhi nempela uba wukulunga kukamoya ngokufezwa, okungukuthi, ngesu lokwenziwa.

[2] Njengoba-ke izingelosi ezisezulwini zilunge ngokusukela eNkosini, kazishisekeli lutho ngaphandle kokwenza imisebenzi ewusizo. Lokhu kuwuqobo lobumnandi nenjabulo yempilo yazo, futhi kungenxa yemisebenzi yazo ukuthokoza nobumnandi bazo (bheka izinombolo 453, 454, 696, 997, 3645), okuyinto futhi efundiswa yiNkosi kuMathewu, lapho ithi khona:

[3] Ngenxa yokuthi imisebenzi yomuntu iyinkimbinkimbi yazozonke izinto zesisa senhliziyo nenkolo kwakhe, nakanjalo zokulunga kwakhe, ngakho-ke iNkosi yayithanda uJohane ngaphezulu kwabobonke abafundi baYo, okungumfundi futhi iNkosi eyancika esifubeni sakhe esidlweni (bheka kuJohane 21:20); ngokuba ngoJohane kwakufanekiswa ukulunga noma imisebenzi yesisa senhliziyo (bheka isanduleliso sikaGenesis 18 nesanduleliso sikaGenesis 22), nokuyisizathu futhi sokuba iNkosi ithi kuJohane: “Ngilandele”, ingasho lokhu kuPhetro owayefanekisa inkolo (bheka futhi lezozanduleliso). Nalapho iNkosi isho lokho kuJohane, uPhetro owayefanekisa inkolo, ethukuthela wathi “Nkosi, kepha lona, pho?”, neNkosi yamphendula ngokuthi: “Uma ngithanda ukuba ahlale ngize ngifike, kuyini kuwe na? Wena landela Mina (bheka kuJohane 21-23). Ngalamazwi kwakubikezelwa noma kuphrofethwa ukuthi inkolo iyogcina ibukela phansi imisebenzi yesisa senhliziyo, ekubeni nokho kuyilemisebenzi eseduze kweNkosi , njengoba lokhu kufakazelwa ngamazwi eNkosi ezimvwini nasezimbuzini (bheka kuMathewu 25:34-46), lapho kulandwa khona ngemisebenzi kuphela. Nokuthi inkolo ekugcineni iyochitha iNkosi kusobala ngokufanekiswa kokuphika iNkosi kathathu kukaPhetro; nokuthi wayiphika ebusuku kufanekisa inkathi yeSonto yokugcina, ngenkathi singasekho isisa senhliziyo eSontweni (bheka inombolo 6000); nokuthi uPhetro wayiphika kathathu iNkosi kufanekisa ukuphelela kwesimo sokuchithwa kweNkosi noma sokubukelwa phansi kwesisa senhliziyo eSontweni (bheka izinombolo 1825, 2788, 4495, 5159); nokuthi waphika iNkosi iqhude lingakakhali kufanekisa inkathi engaphambi kokusungulwa kweSonto elisha, ngokuba uvivi nokusa okulandela ubusuku kufanekisa ukuqala kweSonto elisha (bheka izinombolo 2405, 5962).
