1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, [that] Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built turrets against it round about.

Verse 1. Nevertheless when the corrupted church has no longer any conjunction with the Lord, because there are no longer any remains of faith and charity, the love of dominion becomes prevalent therein, and all falsities and evils thereof, so that it is beset on all sides by such evils and falsities.
