40 But as for you, turn◦ you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Suph Sea.

Verse 40. But it is necessary, in order that the evil cravings of the unregenerate heart may be removed, that the soul should be brought back into a state of temptation and trial, and where evil spirits will infest it and draw those evils forth.
