16 And Josiah turneth, and seeth the graves that [are] there in the mount, and sendeth and taketh the bones out of the graves, and burneth [them] on the altar, and defileth it, according to the word of Jehovah that the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

Verse 16. For when there is investigation into the state of the corrupted church, it is perceived to be one of total vastation, so that its worship is entirely from the falsities of man's proprium, and is therefore polluted and vile according to the testimony of truth from good, or of faith from charity, which is from the Word of the Lord in the man of the true church.
